Rapture Ruckus 'Invader, Volume 1 - EP' Review

The follow-up to Rapture Ruckus's 2011 full-length album, Open Your Eyes was funded by a successful IndieGoGo campaign which promised two different EP projects. The first one, Invader Vol 1 delivers the Rapture Ruckus sound listeners fell in love with. The second one, which will come later this year, will be a more stripped down, raw sound, that may surprise fans.

This fiercely extreme project is just what the doctor ordered with fun that will get you moving and lyrics that knock it out of the park.

Kicking off with "In Crowd," featuring Soul Glow Activatur (formerly of Family Force 5), is packed pull of vim and vigour. It's an anthem for the outcasts in life - those who are too ____ (fill in the blank). Being in the "in crowd" of the world is overrated and we're all reminded of that fact.

"Everybody Get Up" smells like the best of the 80s as Brad Dring raps some hard hitting lyrics that pull no punches and aren't in the least bit politically correct. As he points out, finding a drunk girl to party with may seem like fun for the moment, but it's not what God wants for either of you.

"In This Together," featuring Shuree, reminds us that we have Jesus and we have each other, so we're never alone in this life.

Bottom line, this project has a lot going for it, even if it is a bit on the short side as an EP. Fans of Rapture Ruckus will love it and those who aren't familiar with the group will figure out that they've been missing out!
