After 12 years of recording silence, BlackHawk has announced that they're returning to the country music stage with a reunion album! Henry Paul and Dave Robbins are signed with Loud & Proud Records and they're in the studio working on their return, Brothers of the Southland, with co-producer Dale Oliver (Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman). The project is scheduled to hit shelves later this spring.
Missing from the line-up will be original member Van Stephenson, who was diagnosed with melanoma in 1999 and lost the battle with the disease in 2001.
From the time the band entered the world of country in 1993 with their debut smash, Goodbye Says It All, they were fan favorites. With a dozen top ten hits including two #1's to their credit and album sales that exceed 7 million records, they worked hard to carve out their own place in music history. After Stephenson's death, the two men followed through with his dying wish that they try to help find a cure by establishing the Van Stephenson Memorial Cancer Research Fund in his memory, donating the proceeds of their music efforts to the Vanderbilt Cancer Research Center.
In a press release, Loud & Proud owner & President Tom Lipsky talked about the new album, saying that it, "represents the band through the years and their many hits, the adversity they faced, and Henry and Dave’s decision to continue their musical journey together. BlackHawk’s sound remains a beautiful blend of melody and harmony, with genuine and purposeful lyrics, and Loud & Proud is excited to be their label partner. We know their legions of fans are going to love experiencing this new music."
