Rihanna is set to release a concept album this year based on the upcoming animated DreamWorks film Home, due out in November, Variety reports. She will also star in the film and perform new songs.
DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg announced the news Tuesday during the company's quarterly earnings meeting. No title or release date for the album have been announced.
The 3D film, directed by Tim Johnson (Antz, Over the Hedge), hits theaters November 26 and is based on author Adam Rex's 2007 children's book The True Meaning of Smekday. It centers on a group of aliens that are hiding out from their enemies on planet earth. Rihanna's character is a teenager named Gratuity "Tip" Tucci. Other notable voices include Jennifer Lopez (Tip's Mother), Steve Martin (Capitan Smek) and Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons (Oh).
In the meantime, Rihanna will join Eminem on the road in August for a three-city mini tour, which includes stops at undisclosed locations in New York, Los Angeles and Detroit. The two collaborated for last year's "The Monster," which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
