Tim Wilson, the Columbus, Georgia hometown boy made good, passed away on February 26, 2014 at age 52 from a heart attack. He was in Columbus, visiting family, when he started having chest pains and shortness of breath. He was rushed to St. Francis Hospital, where he had a massive heart attack at 9:15 p.m

According to his manager, Chris DiPetta, visitation will be held Sunday at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus. The funeral will be Monday. The times have not yet been announced. Wilson leaves behind a wife and two children.

Tim first started being a funny man in elementary school with impressions of his teachers. It was while in high school that he learned how to play guitar and started singing, combining his humor with his music. He made a name for himself with funny country songs like "Garth Brooks Ruined My Life," “First Baptist Bar & Grill and "The NASCAR Song,” which was about a kid who was born in the Talladega grandstands and named "Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvan Gordon Earnhardt Smith ... Johnson, Jr." He also co-wrote Jeff Foxworthy’s hit "The Redneck 12 Days of Christmas."

One never knew when Wilson was going to show up at The Loft, a local Columbus, club, owner Buddy Nelms said. He told the Ledger Enquirer, "Tim would just walk in (on open mic night) and try his new jokes on the Columbus market. We didn’t know when he would show up, but it was always a treat."
