On March 10, 2014, the 6th annual T.J. Martell Honors Gala will be held in Nashville. The event is one of Music City’s most high profile annual fundraisers, raising funds for cancer research. Following a cocktail reception, guests will be treated to dinner before the awards are handed out. A silent auction and a live auction will follow. Entertaiment for the event will be led by actor Charles Esten, the Master of Ceremonies. Attendees will be treated to music from Darius Rucker, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Sheryl Crow, Jake Owen and Blue Sky Riders.
This year's honorees include: Mark Bloom (Spirit of Nashville Award), Dr. Scott Hiebert (Medical Research Advancement Award), Dale Morris (Tony Martell Lifetime Entertainment Achievement Award), Muke Dungan (Frances Preston Lifetime Music Industry Achievement Award) and Beth Dortch Franklin (Lifetime Humanitarian Award).
The T.J. Martell Foundation is the music industry’s largest foundation that funds advanced medical research focused on finding cures for leukemia, cancer and AIDS. It was founded in 1975 by music industry executive Tony Martell and his colleagues, in loving memory of his son, T.J., who died of leukemia. Thus far, it has provided more than $260 million for research at top hospitals in the United States.
