It's been a fairly quiet 2015 for Iggy Azalea, but don't expect a follow-up to The New Classic anytime soon. Over the weekend, the "Trouble" rapper announced that she's about halfway through recording her new album, but that a first single isn't due until sometime next year.
Over the weekend, (Aug. 8), Azalea gave an update from the studio on Twitter, revealing that she's six songs in to a planned 10-song LP and that she's working on her sophomore record right now.
Azalea also opened up about the release schedule and structure of her new album. Fans of the rapper shouldn't expect any full new singles from her until "next year," and the album will just be released as a standard 10-track LP with no deluxe or expanded release in sight.
However, Azalea also revealed that in addition to an album she's working on a documentary to accompany the LP. There's no word on what the documentary may focus on, but in a tumultuous year for Azalea with everything from an engagement to a cancelled tour to a so-so performing single with Britney Spears, she could make for some fascinating watching.
Azalea's debut album The New Classic was released last year and spawned singles such as "Fancy," "Black Widow" and "Work."
