Deerhunter Reveals Details For 'Fading Frontier,' Release Video For "Snakeskin"

Atlanta indie rockers Deerhunter recently revealed details for their forthcoming LP Fading Frontier via their website and debuted the music video for their latest single "Snakeskin."

An official statement confirming the purpose of the countdown has yet to be made by the band but despite the lack of information concerning the recent update to the band's website, fans are interpreting what Pitchfork has coined the "mysterious clock" as a godsend. Accompanied by an eerie gif of frontman Bradford Cox turning into a dog, the page now titled "Faulkner," has caught the attention of the blogosphere and fans alike.

Confirmed as an October 16 release date via the group's label 4AD, Fading Frontier is already available for pre-order through Music Direct. Much to fans' relief, it is highly probably that the current updates to the band's website are the preface to new details regarding Deerhunter's follow up to 2013's Monomania. The countdown is set to end tonight at 11pm. The band's latest material "sounds like INXS," according Cox in a recent interview with Stereogum. Since the impromptu release of their latest track "Snakeskin," the band's latest has garnished praise from even the most brutal reviewers.

Cox, who served as a co-host on his hometown's radio station 1690 AM for a two-hour program last night appears in the music video for "Snakeskin" which released late last night. Between their cryptic website and the spontaneous debut of their album's first single, fans remain captivated and anticipating the handful of tour dates currently set for Cox and his bandmates. Scheduled to be the band's seventh studio album, this fall's LP will showcase their knack for crafting instrumental cohesion and lyrical precision that has become synonymous with their aesthetic.

"I can't speak for everyone, but I love what I'm doing," Cox told the Village Voice after Monomania's release. "I love being up there. I love sharing the stage. It's an equal manner with these guys, and everybody on stage feels equal." It can be assumed that his feelings haven't changed and neither has the band's reputation for crafting memorable tracks.
