American electronic music duo Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight, better known as Odesza, have teamed up with Swedish indie-electronic outfit Little Dragon to release their new single "Light." The song is taken from the Seattle-based duo's upcoming deluxe edition of their 2014 album In Return.
The new tune has the airy synth chords you come to expect from an Odesza song with well-choreographed melody variations and a half-time drum beat. Yukimi Nagano's high-pitched voice fits perfectly with the instrumental - a combination that has been steady with other female singers on Odesza hits like "Sun Models" and "Say My Name." Nagano croons about a reckless and passionate one-sided love affair, "I gave my cards away, would lose the game for you / each second slipped away did not know what to do / was always drawing secrets on your wall."
"Light" is a new track that will highlight the upcoming deluxe edition of Odesza's 2014 album In Return. The deluxe edition will include all 13 tracks from the original album, instrumental versions of each song, live versions of "Bloom," "Say My Name" and "IPlayYouListen" and Light. It will be released on Sept. 18 through Counter Records with a special limited edition vinyl version going out on Nov. 1. Pre-order the album via the group's website here.
The duo are heading out on an expansive world tour this fall and winter that includes dates in Australia, Europe and North America. They will start down under next month for dates in New Zealand and Australia before jetting off to Europe for gigs in London, Amsterdam, Paris and elsewhere. They then come back to their native side of the Atlantic for shows, many of them sold out, in cities like New York City, Philadelphia, Austin, Winnipeg, Boston, Seattle and Portland.
