Trent Reznor and Josh Homme’s make joint appearance on triple j radio [LISTEN]

Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age kick off their co-headlining tour in Australia and New Zealand this week. In anticipation, Trent Reznor and Josh Homme stopped by triple j radio to talk about the tour. Reznor explained that they would be flipping a coin each night to see who will headline.

When asked if audiences could expect on-stage collaboration, Homme said that it’s possible but “The initial plan is for everyone to do their thing. I think there’s something to just doing your thing. So much of the time it sounds lovely to smash it all together. Let’s start by everyone kicking ass doing their own thing.”

They also talked about Nine Inch Nails changing from a six-piece to a four-piece; everything from their shows going on the Internet these days; Beats Music and curating mixtapes and festivals; their desire to see more co-headlining tours.

They also talked about how Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner came up with the name for the …Like Clockwork song “Kalopsia.”

“We were kind of in a friendly texting war of words, and he texted me that word. I thought, ‘What the hell was this?’” Homme said. “And the definition came closely thereafter. The definition was a condition wherein things appear more beautiful than they really are.”

Overall, the interview spans about 20 minutes. You can listen to the full thing here. Let us know what you think and if you’ll be at any of their shows in the comments section below!
