Kelly Clarkson Announces She's Pregnant; Covers Demi Lovato Song 'Cool for Summer'

Season one American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson has made this summer on the road the summer of covers as she's embarked on her Piece By Piece tour. Boasting emotional and powerful renditions of fan-favorite radio hits like Rihanna's "Stay," Nick Jonas' "Jealous" and Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball." Some covers have been known to conjure tears from the singer but last night's gig at the Staple Center in Los Angeles, not only did Clarkson get teary-eyed, she announced that she was pregnant with her second child.

"I'm totally pregnant," she told the L.A. audience about expecting another child with her husband Brandon Blackstock, USA Today notes. The reveal was unplanned, as many of Clarkson's family members were still in the dark about the exciting news. Singing lines such as "I would never leave her like you left me/She will never have to wonder her worth/Because unlike you, I'm gonna put her first," sent the singer's emotions to the forefront of the stage.

The 33-year-old musician gave birth to her first daughter, River Rose, last summer. "I'm honestly so hormonal today," she told the Staples Center crowd. "That's totally not how I wanted to announce that... We've told our family. Well, some of them. But I was crying and I didn't want you to think I was crazy."

She continued to share another happy bit of news, "I haven't vomited yet!" During the same show, Clarkson continued her series of covers with a birthday surprise for a fellow musician "It's one of my girls' birthdays tomorrow - when I say my girl, I mean Demi Lovato. It's Demi's birthday tomorrow," Kelly told the vivacious crowd. "And she's always been such a fan, she's so supportive and so cool... she's just killing it. I thought I would, for her birthday, sing her new single, 'Cool For The Summer.'"

Clarkson failed to mention how far along she is, but her Piece by Piece tour is scheduled to carry out until a November 20 gig in London, MTV News reports.
