Cher Lloyd is looking to change the game. Today (March 3), the "I Wish" singer announced that she will be releasing her second studio album Sorry I'm Late on May 27. Until then, though, she will be rolling out the record in a unique, socially driven way with the help of her fans "The Brats."
According to her official website, Lloyd's fans will help her reveal new teaser tracks from the album as well as a piece of the record cover on social media. One Brat, chosen by Lloyd, will release a new song and a piece of the album artwork on his or her Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Then, in a partnership with MTV, the song will drop on MTV.com later that day.
Then, Brats will be invited to make fan videos for the new song, which will then be displayed on Lloyd's MTV Artists page.
"What I love most about my fans is that they aren't afraid to be vocal when they want new music from me, so I thought why not let them be the ones to leak it. I make music for them, so they should be in power," she said in a statement.
Though the fan rollout of her new music has yet to receive a starting date, the album's new single does have a release date: March 14. Following last year's track "I Wish" (feat. T.I.), Lloyd will drop "Sirens" as the new single from Sorry I'm Late. To help bring the song into the world, Sirius Hits-1 will play it on the hour, every hour that day.
Sorry I'm Late will be Lloyd's sophomore effort, following the release of 2011's Sticks + Stones, which spawned hits such as "Swagger Jagger" and "Want U Back."
