Ginger-haired singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has officially launched his brand-new record label, appropriately named Gingerbread Man Records.
The "Thinking Out Loud" singer first detailed the project in March, confirming that songwriter Jamie Lawson would be the first artist to sign with the label. "I'm extremely excited to be starting-up my own label," Sheeran said in a press release. "It's something I've been planning for some time. I've always loved endorsing acts from the very beginning and I get to work with artists I truly believe in."
The "Photograph" singer continued to explain that Lawson is "an incredible talent", ratifying that the musician's self-titled album will see its release on October 9. Gingerbread Man Records also launched their first YouTube channel and its first official video.
As of late, the X singer has kept a busy schedule--he'll appear as a knight in Kurt Sutter's latest series, The Bastard Executioner, as well as spend his free time volunteering upon taking a short break from music. Furthermore, footage of Ed Sheeran's impending guest appearance in the long-running Australian soap opera Home And Away has made its way to the Internet.
Sheeran was spotted on set earlier in the year alongside Emily Symons, who portrays Marilyn Chambers on the soap, but now, a snippet of his debut has been posted online. The 24-year-old musician will make his appearance as Teddy who used to be babysat by Chambers when she lived in the UK. He makes a visit to Summer Bay, surprising its inhabitants when they find out he's become a chart-topping artist.
"It's an Australian institution. It's always on in my local chip shop. I got asked to do it and it sounded like it could be fun. I did Shortland Street in New Zealand as well and I'm sure if Emmerdale or EastEnders ever ask me in England I would do that as well," Sheeran said of his Home And Away cameo via NME, slated to appear in the UK on Channel 5 this winter.
