If you've seen the teasers for the highly anticipated forthcoming season of American Horror Story: Hotel, then you know there is no shortage of creepiness of craziness. While fans are still upset about Jessica Lange's possible departure from the series, excitement shortly followed when Lady Gaga was enlisted to join the show.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the cast of the fifth season, American Horror Story: Hotel, dished about what it was like working with the famed artist and how she was recruited for the show in the first place.
"Bad Romance" singer Lady Gaga covers the latest issue of EW, where details have finally been revealed about the new season. Each season follows a particular theme that usually scares fans half-to-death and things just might have gotten a hell of a lot creepier. There's nothing worse than going on a lovely vacation and finding out your hotel doesn't match it's highly rated description and that's just what guests are install for in American Horror Story's fictional establishment: Hotel Cortez.
"Built in 1930 by the rich and charming but deeply psychotic James March (Evan Peters), the beautiful art-deco hotel is, in actuality, a labyrinthine structure built to hide March's murderous activities (think dead ends, secret rooms, endless shafts)," reported Entertainment Weekly.
The 29-year-old singer plays The Countess and owner of Hotel Cortez. Her character is glamorous with a voracious appetite for sex and blood. Fashion comes easy to The Countess as she sports luxurious garments and an extremely sharp armour glove. Let's just say she dresses to kill. Let's not forget, this is the same woman wore a meat dress to the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.Lady Gaga is the queen of exotic costumes.
AHS characters usually come from troubling backgrounds and Gaga confirms her character has been through quite a lot, making it very hard for her to become emotionally affected by anything. There's something about this character that screams Lady Gaga!
"I was at a construction site and my phone rang," said AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy on how Lady Gaga was cast for the show. "I didn't recognize the number. [I answer and] I hear 'Please hold for Gaga.' I think 'Bad Romance' was playing [while I was on hold]. Then she got on the phone. At first I thought it was a prank, but we then had a lovely call."
Gaga adds, "I called him and I said, 'Ryan, I wanna be on Horror Story.' And he goes, 'Okay.' And that was it."
Gaga revealed she feels a strong connection with the "art of darkness" and is proud to be able to share with fans a project she put her all into. She isn't the only one who's noticed her determination to excel in the role and become one with her character. AHS veteran Kathy Bates also got a glimpse of the singer's acting chops and it only took one line to blow her away.
"We've shot one scene together," said Bates on shooting a scene with Gaga. "She walked past me and literally had one line, and it just scared the sh*t out of me.She's really throwing herself in this."
American Horror Story: Hotel is expected to premiere on Oct. 7 on FX. The new season will run for 13 episodes.
