Justin Bieber's career has already seen its fair share of highs and lows, starting out as an innocent rising star from Canada and morphing into a lucrative teenager with less than acceptable decision making skills. After taking on endless insults on The Roast and stopping by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to apologize for his behavior with hopes of reworking his image, the pop star has dropped the first lyric video and single off of his impending album, titled "What Do You Mean?".
The Skrillex produced track will be featured on the 21-year-old's first album in three years. The Canadian idol left beliebers in the dark until his joint venture with Skrillex and Diplo hit the radio, "Where Are U Now." Both Diplo and Skrillex are rumored to appear on Beibers latest album, due out on November 13, Billboard notes.
"What Do You Mean?" is a pretty timid Skrillex track compared to his more involved sounds and beats, boasting a slight loop of restrained house beats as Bieber sings "What do you mean? / When you nod your head yes / But you wanna say no / What do you mean?" Celebrity dating may seem ideal to outsiders but just like the rest of us, Justin Bieber is fed up with miscommunication within relationships. Enough with reading between the lines, Bieber wants to know flat out, "what do you mean?" The track's lyrics, along with the beat, remain rather repetitive throughout the over three minute video that features numerous skateboarding tricks through a black and white lens.
The Laban-directed video showcases the song's lyrics as they pop up and overlap with footage of the "Boyfriend" singer's skateboarding skills alongside Ryan Sheckler and Chelsea Castro. Bieber even gathered a mass of star power to help count down the release of his latest single, with pictures posted by Steven Tyler, Miley Cyrus and Hilary Duff.
'What Do You Mean?" is a fun, catchy tune that's almost certain to be a perfect end of the summer anthem, putting Bieber back at the top of the charts. Catch its live debut on Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Miley Cyrus.
