Remember that whimsically eerie Chipotle ad that featured Fiona Apple covering "Pure Imagination?" Well, it turns out that the slot was originally meant for Frank Ocean until he back out of the campaign. Ocean might owe thousands of dollars to the company as Chipotle is now suing him.
According to TMZ, Ocean signed a $425,000 deal to sing the remake of "Pure Imagination" for the animated ad. But Chipotle claims that Ocean never recorded the track because he didn't approve of Chipotle putting their logo at the end of their spot.
Chipotle got an email from Ocean's camp claiming that he was promised final say over the recording and all promotional materials and believed that the company inserting their logo at the end of their ad was a breach of their agreement.
Now the company is suing to get back the $212,500 advancement they paid Ocean. What do you think? Was Ocean out of line for expecting Chipotle to not include their logo in their own advertisement? Let us know in the comments section below!
