Despite earlier indications via the Tumblr of Frank Ocean and statements from Chris Brown, the beef between the two R&B stars isn't over. The most recent, and obvious, indication is a series of lines dropped by Ocean in the lyrics he posted for a remix of Migos's "Versace."
"You could stay seated I'm taking that Grammy/Your music is sloppy," read a text document Ocean posted to his Tumblr Wednesday night. The first line is an obvious reference to the point at this year's Grammy Awards where Brown opted not to stand when Ocean won Best Urban Contemporary Album for his debut "Channel Orange." The second line is presumably a direct diss aimed at Brown's music.
The two had prior history before the Grammys. Brown took an underhanded jab at Ocean in 2011, comparing him via Twitter to a "young James Fauntleroy or Kevin Cossom," two established songwriters who didn't cut it in front of a microphone. The two and their respective posses got into a brawl at a recording studio parking lot just prior to the Grammys.
Ocean took a break from addressing Brown during the verse, taking time to list his famous friends and accomplishments (doesn't seem like anything special at the moment, but we'll withhold judgement until we hear it recorded) but then returns to Brown late in the verse.
"You had a lady then she hurt your ego / Now you can't forgive her," Ocean writes, probably referencing Brown's assault upon on-again-off-again girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
None of this has actually been recorded yet, but it doesn't really matter at this point. Ocean's words are out in the open.
