Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had an exciting yet slightly traumatic Labor Day weekend. The former professional wrestler took to his Facebook account on Monday (Sept. 7) to share with fans how his newly adopted puppy almost drowned in the deep end of his pool. Luckily, the Hercules actor was able to literally think quick on his feet, jump into the pool and rescue the dog from his near death experience.
The San Andreas actor recently adopted two French bulldog puppies named Brutus and Hobbs. What started off as a warm welcome home to the new additions in his family soon became a terrifying experience of life or death. Some of his hard action stunts might be played by body doubles on screen, but when faced with an intense situation in reality, the 43-year-old didn't hesitate to put his strength and speed to the test.
"We just decided to add to new members to our Johnson family," he wrote on his personal Facebook page. "Baby French Bulldogs. In my right hand is BRUTUS and in my left hand is HOBBS. Bring them home and immediately take them outside so they can start learning how to 'handle their business and potty like big boys.' I set them both down and they both take off in a full sprint and fall right into the deep end of our pool. HOBBS immediately starts doggy paddling while BRUTUS (like a brick) sink heads first to the bottom of the pool."
Along with the in-depth recap of his eventful weekend, Johnson posted a picture of him soaking wet, standing fully clothed, in the pool holding his two adorable puppies in each hand. Johnson remembered sprinting and diving into the pool. A little shaken up by the experience, Brutus threw up all the pool water he mistakenly swallowed and just stared into Johnson's face. Behind the infectious smile seen in the post, lie thankful eyes from everyone/everything involved.
The Ballers actor left the pool learning three valuable life lessons, two for new dog owners and one for every day life.
"A) Not all puppies have the instinct to doggie paddle. B) Some puppies (like BRUTUS) will be so in shock by experiencing water they will sink extremely fast so react quick. C) While spiriting to save your puppies life, before you dive in, try and throw your cel[l] phone to safety. Don't keep it in your pocket... like I did."
