Our mother used to warn us that bad things would happen if we kept sticking our tongue out at people. We have a feeling that the tongue trouble Miley Cyrus is currently having is not what our mother was talking about. A construction worker is suing stage equipment company ShowFX Inc. because a large model of the pop star's tongue caused him injury during it's completion.
Cyrus's current "Bangerz" tour is a spectacle on many levels, but no part of her stage setup has gathered as much attention as the tongue, which protrudes from a huge backdrop of the performer's winking face. Cyrus enters the stage by exiting her own mouth and then sliding down the tongue to floor level.
Charles Nicholas Sarris, the aforementioned construction worker, isn't suing Cyrus but his lawsuit has the potential to shift the staging of her curious props. Maybe. Sarris alleges that he fell and injured himself while he and a team set up the tongue. and that he wasn't informed of the potential danger in the project. Holes in his case: A) Sarris' injuries resulted from falling. Human understanding of physics probably doesn't necessitate explanation that falling from a high place will hurt you. B) Even if Sarris had been injured due to negligence, that fault doesn't lie with ShowFX, but rather with whoever employed him to set up the tongue, whether that's the arena or Cyrus herself.
Also not helping the plaintiff's case is that the extent of his injuries were not revealed as part of the lawsuit. No suggestion was made that Sarris was unable to work, much less crippled by the accident, but we're sure the word "trauma" will be tossed around willy-nilly.
Cyrus fans with tickets to upcoming shows probably don't have to worry about. The performer and her tongue will be in top form.
