A California man was arrested for allegedly flying across the country to stalk one of hip-hop's beloved radio personalities, Angie Martinez, police sources said on Sunday Sept. 13. He reportedly bought a plane ticket to New York with the sole purpose of discovering her whereabouts and following her. His apparent obsession led him to travel from California to New York.
Sacramento, California resident, Emanuelito Torres-Delgado, attempted to see Martinez several times at her Manhattan studio, where she serves as a head radio host for Power 105.1 FM, according to NY Daily News. He was asked to leave repeatedly, becoming more and more aggressive each time he was turned away. Police reportedly arrested Torres-Delgado and charged him with stalking.
The initial complaint against the 53-year-old man from the west coast was filed on the afternoon of Sept. 5. A few days later, he showed up to Martinez's place of business and was reportedly asked to vacate the premises, according to court documents. Things started to turn ugly as Torres-Delgado began to turn belligerent, demanding to see the 44-year-old Brooklyn native.
The alleged stalker has countless social media posts directed towards Martinez, expressing his love for her and even going as far as stating the two are married. He posted a photo on Facebook of him trying to obtain further information and documents on a so-called July 4, 1975 legal "marriage" between the two of them. He also has a long history of mentioning her in his tweets, including one of an erotic DVD and sex toys, as well as, a screenshot of his flight confirmation from Sacramento to JFK with a caption reading "Angie come get me boo."
"ANGELA MARTINEZ COME TALK TO OFFICER FAHY he knows I love you I put my rings back on in front of him. I took them off after feeling an insult we are still married," he posted on Facebook on Sept. 6.
According to the NY Daily News, Torres-Delgado was arraigned on Saturday Sept. 12, on misdemeanor charges of trespassing, stalking, and harassment. He is currently being held in the Manhattan Detention Complex instead of a $5,000 bail.
Neither Torres-Delgado nor his public defender have yet to comment on the matter.
