Hot97's Ebro Darden steps down as program director

Ebro Darden was recently faced with probably one of the toughest decisions of his career but at the end of the day, he chose his creative freedom, and he's happy with his decision.

Anyone familiar with mega radio station Hot 97 knows that Darden wore multiple hats. He served as on-air talent as well as program director and was preparing for the station's forthcoming reality show This Is Hot 97 on VH1.

Fans of Darden took to social media to get an inside scoop on the goings on.

Darden sent out this tweet Thursday (March 13):

"Im a field general not a skybox suit my G... Just who I am."

He then sent out this message:

"They was like so wait, u got mornings and now TV? How u gone do spread sheets, conference calls & meetings...? Pick Ebro..."

Guess it's safe to say, the corporate position wasn't a good fit for Darden.

"Fortunately, I have had tremendous success doing both on-air and PD roles, and EMMIS let me choose where I would be happiest," he said in a press release. "Mornings, TV and assisting in programming makes sense with everything HOT 97 and I have happening today, so I chose creative over corporate. See you all at 5a tomorrow."

The program director position is now available on the station's job site.
