Future and Drake are dropping more hints and keep on teasing us about that rumored mixtape that, if it indeed exists, is easily the most anticipated rap release of the year. Today (Sept. 16), Future has posted two Instagram pictures of himself in the studio with Drake, strongly suggesting that he and Drizzy have a collaborative project on the way. Since then, Drake has put up one of the same pictures on Instagram, with a few emojis that signal we're not far away from something special. Either that or they're cruelly toying with their fans' wildest dreams.
The first rumors of a possible project from the two "Where Ya At" collaborators came just over a week ago (Sept. 8), when Breakfast Club co-host Angela Yee slipped up and hinted that the two rappers might be planning something within the next month. Rumors of a Freebandz Gang and OVO mixtape then began proliferating via social media, especially with a few confirmations from industry insiders.
A seemingly legitimate but fan made mixtape cover, showing an owl covered in drippy purple paint, has also been popping up all over Instagram and Twitter. Drake's right hand man, OB OBrien, shared the fan artwork on his Instagram but has since removed the post from his page.
Of course, both the FBG and OVO bosses know that the project would cause a rupture in the hip-hop world, and, since the rumors have spread, they haven't been shy about turning all the speculation on their every move into even more hype.
On Sept. 11, Future brought out the "6 God" during a show at Ryerson University in Toronto, and then, yesterday, Drake shared a seemingly nondescript selfie on Instagram, but captioned the post by writing, "FBGOVO."
With Future continuing to taunt fans, the tape could be just around the corner. Brace yourselves and stay tuned for updates.
