The Voice is about to get mellow! As NBC's hit singing competition The Voice shakes up the rules for its sixth season, it's getting a new mentor for all four teams in Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
According to Deadline, Martin will be working with singers on a new segment called "The Battles: Round Two." Unlike other battle rounds, this will pit singers who had all previously won a battle round or were stolen against each other. Like the first Battle Rounds, though, the two contestants will be performing the same, previously agreed upon song.
Martin has already filmed his segments for The Voice and did the typical coaching job of teaching singers how to work on their stage presence, vocal techniques and working/changing a song to his/her advantage.
Coldplay's official Twitter account teased Martin's visit to The Voice with photos of the singer with all four coaches (Shakira, Blake Shelton, Usher, Adam Levine). See him comfortably lean into all four pictures above.
His episodes of The Voice will begin airing on March 31.
Martin's appearance on The Voice follows the release of two new Coldplay song, the experimental "Midnight" and the throwback, relaxing lead single "Magic." Both songs come from the British band's upcoming sixth studio album Ghost Stories, which is due to hit stores this May.
