Avril Lavigne: Lyme disease
Avril Lavigne: Complicated
In one semi-graphic photo, Lavigne shared the image of her tattooed arm, which had been recently bandaged up. Sitting next to her is a lineup of blood vials, and she let fans know that she's undergoing the tests in order to be treated.
Despite her diagnosis, Lavigne seems hopeful and positive in the Instagrams. She can also be seen sitting in the doctor's office, in her signature punk rock style, smiling. She gets inspirational, too, quoting her Special Olympics anthem "Fly."
After months of being mysteriously ill, Lavigne opened up about her Lyme disease diagnosis in April, saying that it was a "wake up call."
"I had no idea a bug bite could do this," she said. "I was bedridden for five months. I felt like I couldn't breathe. I couldn't talk, and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying."
Lyme disease isn't the only major change for Lavigne in 2015. Earlier this summer, she also announced that she and her husband, Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, are getting a divorce.
