Portland resident launches campaign to turn Kurt Cobain's childhood home into museum [WATCH]

A resident in Portland has launched a formal campaign to help turn Kurt Cobain's childhood home in Aberdeen, WA into a museum.

According to Broward-Palm Beach New Times (via Pitchfork), Jaime Dunkle, a 33-year-old journalist is a longtime devotee of Cobain's music and is hoping to raise at last $700,000 via GoFund me to make sure "this house is memorialized by us fans so it doesn't end up in the clutches of capitalist greed."

The house, which includes Cobain's original bedroom walls, mattress and other family possessions, was put on the market last fall by Cobain's mother and sister for $500,000.

Dunkle reached out to Cobain's mother to get approval for the museum. She was receptive of the idea and even arranged for Dunkle to see the house. Now, it's up to reaching the funds.

So far, $135 (at time of publishing) have been raised on the funding site.
