After serving three months in jail for unpaid child support, DMX is a free man once again. He was released earlier than expected from New York’s Earie County Holding Center on Friday (Sept. 25). The rapper recently made headlines after it was reported that his son sold his platinum albums on eBay.
X reportedly owed $400,000 to the mother of his child and was subsequently sentenced to serve six months in late June.
According to TMZ, the rapper claims that he was never aware of the child support debt. He's slated to have another hearing and if a court finds otherwise, he could end up back in jail.
Earlier this month, X's son, Xavier Simmons sold the "Party Up" rapper's platinum albums on eBay behind his father's back while he was still in prison.
Simmons listed the commemorative plaque for X's first three multiplatinum-selling albums (It's Dark And Hell Is Hot, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood and And Then There Was X) on the auctioning site for $3,000. It later sold for an undisclosed amount.
In 2013, DMX and his son had an explosive reunion during the premiere of OWN's Iyanla Fix My Life with Simmons pointing to his father's infidelity while married to his mother as a cause for their poor relationship.
Aside from his familial issues, X was also implicated in an alleged aggravated robbery of a New Jersey man. He claims that X robbed him at gunpoint, but no charges were ever filed in the incident.
DMX has been somewhat involved in music despite his legal woes. He hit the stage during DJ Snake's set at Coachella back in April. TMZ reported that upon his release, X said that he "will hit up the same studio where he recorded the song, 'I Miss You.'" Maybe that means new music from the former Ruff Ryder.
