Black-Ish star Anthony Anderson and his wife Alvina have dated since high school and have been married for well over 20 years. The relationship has reached its breaking point and reports state that the mother of two has cited irreconcilable differences and has filed for divorce.
Anderson, who has served as host for the BET Awards alongside his TV onscreen wife, Traci Ellis Ross, has two children with Alvina. The couple married in 1995 as high school sweethearts and according to TMZ, Alvina is asking for "joint custody of the minor, and primary physical custody. She's requesting that Anderson get reasonable visitation" of their 15-year-old son.
According to BET, the couple have been separated since April 2014 and have not been spotted in public together since at an event in February 2014. The site also points out that she did not accompany her husband to the 2015 Emmy Awards where he was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy.
Despite the recent filing, Anderson still seems to maintain a close relationship with his children. A recent Instagram post shows the actor spending time with his teenage son at the 2015 Emmy Awards, despite the absence of his mother.
Another post via Twitter shows the father and son pair spending some quality time together at what looks like a concert, accompanied by Anderson's god son as well.
Anderson has yet to respond to the divorce but is steady doing regular promotion for the new season of ABC's Black-Ish, which has received great reviews on its first episode titled, "The Word."
Vox reported that the Black-Ish season premiere was the best episode of TV this week.
