The cat is out of the bag - The Strokes are back in the recording studio to make a new album. Over the weekend, the "Someday" rockers played a show together at the Landmark Festival in Washington, D.C., and frontman Julian Casablancas let it spill that a follow-up to Comedown Machine is on its way.
Fans in attendance at the Landmark Festival flooded social media when Casablancas revealed that the band is going to head back in to the studio soon, Billboard reports.
The news was later confirmed by Amanda de Cadenet, wife of Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi.
No word yet on when The Strokes will return to the studio or when the band's sixth studio album will be released.
The Strokes last released a new album together in 2013 with Comedown Machine. Since then, the band has been focused on other musical endeavors though they have reunited to perform at 2014's Governors Ball, a massive set in London's Hyde Park and a slew of other festival gigs.
When not working with The Strokes over the last two years, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. released his third solo album Momentary Masters in July and Casablancas has been touring with his band Julian Casablancas and the Voidz throughout 2015.
