Although many have applauded Nicki Minaj for her views in a recent interview, Azealia Banks blasted the "Anaconda" rapper and her comments about Miley Cyrus from The New York Times Magazine. Minaj is showcased on the magazine's latest cover and used her interview to touch on topics including her position on Drake and boyfriend Meek Mill's beef, as well as what the infamous showdown between her and Cyrus really boiled down to.
However, fellow rapper Banks is apparently not buying the "appropriation of black culture" story Minaj is selling and called the rapper out via Twitter, calling her a hypocrite and accusing her of pushing a self-serving argument.
Banks, who is known for being very vocal about her opinions, didn't hold back when it came to her counterpart's interview with The New York Times. According to tweets Banks shared with followers, she says she believes Minaj to be playing the victim in the whole debacle with Cyrus, suggesting Minaj made it into a race issue when it had nothing to do with race at all.
I wish Nic would stop trying to turn this Miley thing into a race issue cuz she was mute about cultural approp. until she became "victim"

Plus how u gonna complain about a video with skinny women when ur body is enhanced .. You too were once a skinny woman. — azealiabanks (@AZEALIABANKS) October 7, 2015
I am a skinny black woman. Not every black woman can afford enhancements so it's not fair to other girls to make it about that.

This isn't about race. if it were she would've said something when the industry was trying to wipe her out with vanilla wife. — azealiabanks (@AZEALIABANKS) October 7, 2015
I am a female rapper, I like to stay up on what's happening in my field. Because the field has been boarded up and abandoned for so long.

As much as we want to complain about cultural appropriation from without we still aren't being as heralded as men within hip-hop because .. — azealiabanks (@AZEALIABANKS) October 7, 2015
The fact that Lil' Kim was treated the way she was by hip-hop (I am also guilty of being on this bandwagon) is ridiculous to me.

It took me some time and maturity to come to these conclusions but it's truth. There isn't a female rap category anywhere but BET really.. — azealiabanks (@AZEALIABANKS) October 7, 2015
Like why viciously rip off Kim's head and be so cordial and thoughtful about ur dealings with these white chix ? — azealiabanks (@AZEALIABANKS) October 7, 2015
In the interview that set Banks off, Minaj addresses Cyrus saying, "The fact that you feel upset about me speaking on something that affects black women makes me feel like you have some big balls. You're in videos with black men, and you're bringing out black women on your stages, but you don't want to know how black women feel about something that's so important? Come on, you can't want the good without the bad. If you want to enjoy our culture and our lifestyle, bond with us, dance with us, have fun with us, twerk with us, rap with us, then you should also want to know what affects us, what is bothering us, what we feel is unfair to us. You shouldn't not want to know that.''
This is not the first time the "Ice Princess" rapper has voiced her displeasure when it came to something involving Minaj. Banks also criticized "TNISY" rapper for the wax figure made in her likeness with Minaj on all fours back in August, in addition to coming for the rapper yet again when weighing in on the beef involving Cyrus, Minaj and Taylor Swift calling the trio "basic" for arguing over the MTV VMAs.
