Shakira dropped her 10th, self-titled album today (March 25), and to celebrate, she's going to let it all burn. In conjunction with the release of Shakira, she released the music video for the album's second, Alanis Morissette-inspired single "Empire."
Simply put, "Empire" tells the story of a beautiful bride scorned and left on her wedding day (though, of course, it features no man as a love interest). The clip begins with a stunningly dressed and made up Shakira sitting on the ground and singing straight into the camera.
Seriously, we always knew Shakira was beautiful, but she is next level pretty in this clip. Blame it on the bridal wear, I suppose.
Shakira is then all ready to walk down the aisle, only to see her man isn't there, so it's running straight from the church to the scenic mountainside fields, all Sound Of Music style. Eventually, Shakira returns to the church, now all trashed inside with some perfectly places candles (don't want to torch the place, after all!). Wearing a black dress, she belly dances out her rage.
There's no real climax to this story; Shakira never gets married, meets her ex-fiancé or even seems happy by the end of the clip, but that will have to be OK. It all makes for a stunning visual.
