Maryland rapper Goldlink announced today after a Zane Lowe world premiere his debut artist And After That We Didn't Talk. The "Sober Thoughts" rapper just shared the first single from the new LP titled "Spectrum," which was premiered as the hottest record in the world by Zane Lowe on Beats 1.
The LP will be released on Nov. 13 via LA-based music collective and culture platform Soulection that boasts a roster that includes the likes of Mr. Carmack and Ta-Ku. Goldlink has a diverse group of producers on the LP with contributions from Demo Taped, Galimatias, Medasin, Tom Misch and longtime collaborator Louie Lastic. It will feature singer/saxophonist Masego and a range of vocals and melodies from fellow DMV artist April George.
His sound has helped to bridge the ever closing gap between hip-hop and dance music with an ethereal blend of r&b-influenced and bouncy beats and traditional flow with intelligent lyrics. He has been collaborating with Soulection a fair amount over the past year, so to release his album on the label is a logical next step instead of getting lost in the ocean of a major like Def Jam, Interscope or Epic.
Goldlink started bubbling up as a name to know in hip-hop with a several singles and projects over the past few years, but it wasn't until his The God Complex mixtape was released last year, that people like Rick Rubin started to turn their attention towards this talented young MC.
