Empire star Grace Gealey appeared on the ABC Daytime talk show, FABLife, with host Tyra Banks earlier this week and gave some pretty good pointers to consider when deciding to date a co-worker or simply just have a "fling." Gealey is known for her relationship with co-star Trai Byers, and although there have been rumors that the two were engaged, Gealey officially confirmed the speculation by flashing her engagement ring during the show.
There's clearly a difference between seriously dating someone and just having a fling, especially when the individuals involved share the same work place. According to PopSugar, Gealey shared words of wisdom with the FABLife panel and audience on how she feels about mingling your personal life with your professional life; and how- if done incorrectly, could potentially be dangerous.
"I'm not a fan of the flings when you work, because that's where it gets a little dangerous," the actress explained. Gealey's opinion on office romances, or on set romance, is based on the level of maturity between the two people involved. And knowing that if you do decide to have a fling at work, there must be boundaries and a mutual understanding that if it doesn't work out- things won't get messy and uncomfortable at the workplace, and you won't end up "throwing staplers" at each other.
However, it is definitely understood between Gealey and her beau, Byers, that their relationship is more than just a fling. Gealey, 31 and Byers, 32 got engaged back in June according to People. According to the site, the two dated for a while but kept their relationship quiet, until Byers showed just how serious he was in the relationship and put a ring on it.
Gealey boastfully confirmed the engagement and that her relationship with Byers is much more than just a fling, when Banks asked about the status of her relationship.
"So are you telling us that your love on the set of your show is for real for real and not a fling," Banks asked of the Empire star.
She confirmed by holding up her left hand and flashing a beautiful engagement ring. "For real for real, not a fling," Gealey replied. The co-stars are indeed engaged and when asked by Banks if she had told anyone about the great news, Gealey replied - "I just did."
