Snoop Dogg has had a lot of non-music related business ventures as of late, and now he's joining Birman, Jermaine Dupri and Damon Dash for a BET reality show that will follow their personal, musical and business matters. The network officially announced the show this past Friday (Oct. 9) and it will provide interesting insight into those at the very top of the hip-hop industry in eight episodes.
The character mix of rappers Snoop and Birdman, Grammy-winning producer Jermaine Dupri and entrepreneur Dash is sure to be interesting and Business Insider reported that is is slated to begin filming this November in Los Angeles. Lemuel Plummer, the man behind Preachers of Atlanta and Preachers of L.A. has also signed on to be executive producer.
But this is not the Doggfather's first foray into television, as he also had a very short running series called Snoop Dogg's Father Hood from 2007 to 2008 on E! Networks and in the past worked on a venture with Fox Networks called Coach Snoop. That one unfortunately ran into trouble with National Resources Media & Technology Group, who filed a broadcast rights lawsuit so that the project never came to pass.
In other recent news, Billboard reported that Snoop Dogg has recently signed on with AOL to direct and star in another eight-episode series that will document the SYFL, or Snoop Youth Football League, that has been a passion of his for some time. The mini-series will follow both the players and coaches that participate in his project.
The announcement for the AOL series was made at AOL's Future Front event in New York City in front of 2,500 media and marketing personnel and Snoop reportedly said, "The series will finally give the world a chance to witness the stories, talent and commitment SYFL represents in the same way I do."
