Kanye West always makes sure that he stays in the press. This past Saturday (Oct. 10) he surprise auditioned for American Idol and gave judge Jennifer Lopez a shout out in his a capella live remix of smash hit "Gold Digger."
According to Us Magazine he performed for president Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention earlier that day and also received some advice on his supposed presidential campaign.
Fader reported that he performed a grand total of 18 songs at the convention, where the president said, "First of all, you've got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they're on a reality TV show," when asked about his run at the convention.
He also mentioned the strange coincidences between their backgrounds and said, "Do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy," Obama said.
Shortly after, the rapper then popped up on American Idol, dressed simply in all black with a brown jacket and gold chain and rapped for judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban at an open audition in San Francisco.
(“She said I can tell you rock / I can tell by your charm / Far as girls go you got a flock / I can tell by your charm and your arm / But I’m looking for the one / Have you seen her? / My psychic told me she have an a - like Serena / Trina, Jennifer Lopez, four kids”) he rapped to the judges, strategically giving judge J. Lo a shout out.
Wife Kim Kardashian was so proud that she even posted a photo of the performance to Instagram, which was held during a taping for the finale of the show, set to kick off on Fox this January.
