Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne & Prince Headline Tidal X Concert, Ticket Prices Soar

Jay-Z's newly launched global streaming service, Tidal, hit 1 million subscribers last month. Now, the rapper will be celebrating the milestone with a massive charity concert called Tidal X on October 20 at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn. In true Jay-Z fashion, the concert will include an entourage of the biggest artists in the world including Jay-Z's wife Beyoncé, Prince, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, T.I., Damien Marley, Fabulous, Thomas Rhett, Indochina, DJ Cipha Sounds and DJ Reflex, according to Rolling Stone. The concert will also feature "Tidal Rising Acts" Benjamin Booker, Hit-Boy, Bas, Jidenna, Justine Skye and Raury. Tickets to Tidal X, which went on sale to the general public on September 30, have skyrocketed well over the face-value price. According to TiqIQ, resale tickets are averaging $396, which is over 63% more expensive than the most expensive face value ticket of $244. While the cheapest face value ticket was priced at $74, the get-in price for a ticket to Tidal X is $101, and resale tickets continue to rise.

Although Jay-Z's acquisition of Tidal earlier this year was followed by its share of critics, including 50 Cent and British folk band Mumford and Sons, Tidal X is out to prove that the streaming service may be a growing phenomenon after all. Tidal launched in March offering only paid subscriptions, making it the only music streaming service owned by artists. However, with the popularity of a handful of free streaming services like Spotify and Pandora, Tidal has struggled to compete, Reuters reports. The new popularity of Tidal X may indicate a mentality shift, especially given the unique bonus features that Tidal provides. Just recently, Prince released his track, "Free Urself," through Tidal. For those who do not have tickets and are looking to view the show from home, the Tidal X concert will also be streamed live for both subscribers and non-subscribers via Tidal.com. Fans who are commuting to Brooklyn can easily access parking by The Barclays Center through ParkWhiz, where parking starts as low as $9 for the October 20 show.

All ticket sales will be supporting charities via the New World Foundation, and funds will be distributed among various nonprofit organizations with missions to battle systemic and social injustices.
