Meghan Trainor: Better When I'm Dancin'
The song itself is, of course, an upbeat number that opens up with Trainor's signature ukulele playing before some salsa-inspired drums kick in and her sweet vocals play against it all. The peppy beat and simple optimism of the track play well into the song's title and message.
"Show the world you got that fire / Feel the rhythm, get it louder / Show the room what you can do / Let them know you got the moves / I don't know 'bout you / But I feel better when I'm dancing / We can do this together / I bet you feel better when you're dancing," Trainor sings in the peppy track.
"Better When I'm Dancin'" is the kind of Britney Spears' "Ooh La La" song that is perfectly fitted for a children's movie but won't break much out of that space. That's not to say it's a bad song, it's just overly cutesy, which works when you're grooving with Snoopy.
Which is exactly what Trainor does in the music video. In a situation similar to Smallville, when the music kicks in and people start dancing, the world turns from a drab black and white to a big, colorful comic world a la Peanuts.
"Better When I'm Dancin'" provides the soundtrack to The Peanuts Movie, which is set to hit theatres on Nov. 6.
