Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival has announced its initial lineup for the debut edition of the festival in 2016. The three-day festival being put on by a brain trust of former executives at events like Bonnaroo and Outside Lands has assembled headliners in Kendrick Lamar, Skrillex, Mumford & Sons, Future, Big Grams, the duo of Phantogram and Big Boi, Fetty Wap, Miguel, Jason Isbell and more.
Also included in the diverse lineup that is heavy on big name hip-hop acts, but thins out to a quite diverse offering of country, electronic and rock.
Also included on the lineup are names like Four Tet, Dr. Dog, X Ambassadors, Shabazz Palaces, Joywave, Deer Tick, RL Grime and The Soul Rebels.
According to promoter Soundslinger founder and creative officer Paul Peck, they are purposefully making the festival a smaller then what other major events continue to do with a bigger is better mentality.
"We want to present a more intimate experience in our first year so we are limiting the capacity to about half the size of other major American festivals," Peck said in a statement via Entertainment Weekly. "We have an incredibly special property and the opportunity to do something really special here, and we want to make sure we do it right."
Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival will make its debut next year from March 4-6. Though the festival has already announced nearly 50 acts performing, there will be more acts announced in the coming months.
