LA-based singer, Miguel, is the most recent in a string of musicians to blast future SNL host Donald Trump for his terrifyingly legitimate campaign to be president of the United States and ignorant politics. He is also not a fan of his impending position as host on Saturday Night Live.
When NME asked the singer if he considered it to be a good choice for Donald Trump to host SNL he said, "I believe it will be good for the ratings, I'm sure that's how they're look at it too," and the show has a long history of generating those.
He further elaborated, saying, "But you know, I think there's also a responsibility that you have to have. And I don't think ignorance deserves that kind of attention and unfortunately we live in a world where attention is the ultimate controversy." Trump has been a controversial candidate since the beginning and numerous celebrities have spoken out against his campaign, but one thing he does do in the media industry is generate hype.
Miguel also spoke on how Trump appealed to people because of his enormous financial success and that he might improve the economy, which was also said by rapper T.I. in a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid's radio show.
According to the magazine, Miguel is still playing in support of his third full-length album, Wildheart, which was released this past June. He also recently played three performances in London, one at Brixton Academy, one at Birmingham Academy and one at Manchester Academy to promote it.
As for SNL, Billboard reported that Donald Trump is set to host the show early next month (Nov. 7). His appearance was announced this past Tuesday and he will be joined by "Chandelier" singer Sia on the episode. This will all come a few weeks after Democratic hopeful, Hillary Clinton, was the focus during the season premiere.
