Actor and producer Ice Cube has many successful movies under his belt with films like, Boyz In Da Hood, RIde Along and Straight Outta Compton. Now, the actor is gearing up to add another successful film to his resume with a good old fashioned, after school Fist Fight; a film currently in production with co-star Charlie Day.
According to UPI, New Line Cinema has started production on the forthcoming family film, Fist Fight, set to star Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson Sr.); Charlie Day, Jillian Bell, Christina Hendricks, Dennis Haysbert, JoAnna Garcia Swisher and comedian Tracy Morgan. According to the site, the film centers around two high school teachers, Andy Campbell and Ron Strickland (played by Jackson and Day), who experience their share of differences thoughout the school year but, decide to confront those differences on the last day of school with a fist fight, that quickly becomes the school's headlining news. Fist Fight is being filmed in Atlanta with director "Richie Keen from a script written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux."
Jackson is no stranger to family films. His work in the 2005 film, Are We There Yet, and 2007 sequel, Are We Done Yet, grossed a combined total of $132.4 million at the box office according to Entertainment Weekly. The franchise was so successful that TBS decided to turn the film into a RV comedy that ran from 2010-2012.
Fist Fight comes on the heels of another box office hit which highlighted the beginning of Jackson's career with rap group N.W.A, Straight Outta Compton. The film dominated the the number one box office spot for three weeks straight according to Variety, and reported to be the fifth biggest August opener in history and the top film for R rated movies during the month of August ever.
Fans will have to wait to the release of the film to see if O'Shea Jackson Sr. can continue his winning streak at the box office. There have been no reports on a release date as of yet.
