During a charity fundraiser at Los Angeles' Hollywood Palladium last night (which also doubled as James Franco's Bar Mitzvah party), Miley Cyrus morphed into "Miley Cyrustein" for one night only as she sang the 1981 Rick James hit, "Super Freak," alongside The Super Jews and a large Star of David.
The spoof ceremony for the This is the End actor, Hilarity for Charity Annual Variety Show: James Franco's Bar Mitzvah, was a benefit for the Alzheimer's Association hosted by Funny or Die. The Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz singer was among a list of talent to grace the stage that night, which was specially crafted by Franco's long-time friend as well as The Interview and Freaks and Geeks co-star, Seth Rogen. Living up to her outrageous outfit expectations, the 22-year-old singer rocked a bright blue bodysuit thong, Star of David bracelets and hair accessories along with gold, sparkly tights. At one point of the night she was even adorned in a large, gold cape that read "Shalom Y'all," Entertainment Weekly reports.
"Things are going to get a bit ridiculous," the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards host said. "And that's coming from someone who flew around on a giant hotdog for 20,000 people for several months last year." Cyrus' quick set on stage also offered covers of "Shout" by Lulu and Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" along with an acoustic version of her own track, "We Can't Stop."
As Billboard notes, one part of the evening called for a mock-circumcision by Jeff Goldblum on an unexpected guest, Franco's mother. The night also boasted a performance from the sisters in Haim as they led a hora dance while playing the Israeli folk song "Hava Nagila." Funny or Die live streamed the entire event which helped raise around $2 million for Seth Rogen's Hilarity for Charity, which was launched in 2012 by the comical actor and his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen.
