If you managed to get tickets to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will be open to the public for the first time, the organization has announced the official list of presenters and performers for the night. Not everything has been ironed out yet, but things look promising.
R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe will induct Nirvana, which is most likely the "headlining" band of the night. There's no word on whether surviving members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have any performance plans (but it seems a tad sacrilege not to include Kurt Cobain).
Headlines have already been made regarding the induction of KISS. The band is sticking strong with its choice not to perform. There was a debate about whether the band would appear with its current lineup or if original guitarist Ace Frehley or original drummer Peter Criss would appear with the group at the event. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons threw their support behind current members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, deciding that no incarnation of KISS would play. Tom Morello will induct the band, and it may involve some shredding as well. We'll see.
Linda Ronstadt announced her retirement from music during 2011, due to complications from Parkinson's disease, but she'll get an exciting arrangement of vocalists performing for her. Stevie Nicks, Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt will sing on her behalf. The Eagles' Glen Frey will induct Ronstadt.
Peter Gabriel and Hall & Oates will both perform, and the musicians will be introduced by Coldplay's Chris Martin and The Roots' Questlove, respectively. The E Street Band will be inducted by (duh) Bruce Springsteen. Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens) will also be inducted, but there's not word yet on who'll do the honor.
The event will occur April 10 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
