The White Stripes' 'Fell in Love With a Girl' Gets Unique Makeover by USS: Premiere

Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker (USS) are readying the U.S. debut of their chart-topping album Advanced Basics, and in the eve of its release, the band is releasing a reinterpretation of The White Stripes' classic track "Fell In Love With a Girl," and we have the exclusive premiere.

Hailing from the Toronto suburbs, the band's two members include vocalist, guitarist, and erhu player Ashley Buchholz (aka Ash Boo-Schultz) and turntablist Jason "Human Kebab" Parsons. In the video, the eclectic Buchholz performs on a guitar/mixer creation dressed in a skeleton costume. The progressive cover puts a unique and somewhat dark spin on the massive hit song, which appeared on the Stripes' 2001 album White Blood Cells.

Parsons, who has been referred to as the band's "hype man," spoke to us about the cover, giving proper tribute to the song's originators, Jack and Meg White. "When we played our first ever Halloween show, Ash performed this song as 'Fell In Love With A Ghoul'," he said. "We honestly didn't expect it to go off as huge as it did. After that day, we gave it the Drum'n'Bass treatment, and here we are. Hope you love it, Jack and Meg!"

Advanced Basics, which was produced by Tawgs Salter (Lights, Walk Off The Earth), will hit U.S. stores on Oct. 30. If you pre-order the album, you'll get an instant download of the single "Yin Yang," as well as tracks "N/A OK (Grade of this Collapse)" and "Remember the Days (Yo Hello Hooray)."

Thus far, the album has earned the band a JUNO nomination for "Breakthrough Group of the Year," as well as an Indie Award for "Single of the Year" for "Yin Yang."
