The Chainsmokers have unveiled a brand new single "New York City" as part of a new five-track EP aptly titled Bouquet. The EP contains five previously released tracks from the past few months, "Roses," "Until You Were Gone" with Tritonal, "Good Intentions" featuring BullySongs and "Waterbed" alongside the artist with the same name. The compilation EP of sorts comes just as The Chainsmokers kick off their Friend Zone tour across North America with support from DJs like Matoma, Ansolo, DallasK, Shaun Frank and more.
While the rest of the EP is already part of Chainsmokers' fans libraries, they do not have the always conditioned duo's ode to their home city yet. The new track features another female vocalist Brittany as the pair try and channel the energy and emotion found in the rest of the EP into this single.
Alex Pall and Drew Taggart call this "probably one of the most challenging songs we have ever done," as they shift between live instrumentation in the builds and female vocals and then a not too overwhelming, oscillating, progressive melody in the drop.
They described the process of making the song on their SoundCloud. "We have legitimately been working on this track for over a year and probably made about 75 completely different versions of it. It was really challenging because the message is so emotional and raw and we are also from New York so we literally stressed out about every inch of this song." The track comes out as the duo kick off their new tour tonight in Nashville. It will continue over the next month and a half with gigs all across North America with gigs in Montreal, Las Vegas, Columbus, Denver, Philadelphia, Madison, Seattle and elsewhere. Get all of the tour details here.
