Conor Oberst: Desaparecidos.
The band originally only cancelled one show in Jacksonville on Tuesday, while the band assessed how severe his ailments were. On Wednesday, they gave the following statement on Facebook.
"Desaparecidos has been forced to cancel the remainder of their US tour dates. Conor Oberst fell ill while on tour in Jacksonville, Florida and was briefly hospitalized due to laryngitis, anxiety, and exhaustion. In consultation with his doctors, the band has reluctantly agreed to cancel all scheduled live dates. Conor will be heading home to Omaha to recuperate. We wish him a speedy recovery. All affected dates below. Refunds available at point of purchase."
The political punk outfit was on tour promoting its 2015 reunion album Payola, which has Oberst screaming and yelling far more than he might on his more subdued solo work or for his most well know group Bright Eyes. Perhaps all of those punk rock vocals took too much of a toll on his voice. However, as the band listed anxiety as one of his symptoms as well, fans can only hope that his mental health is all squared away soon. Perhaps it was just nerves because of his voice illness. Long tours like these certainly take a toll on artists including Charlie XCX and Jack Antonoff of Bleachers, who cancelled their joint tour earlier this year due to similar issues.
