Of all the things that former 98 Degrees member, Nick Lachey, can own, he's probably pretty happy to be part owner in what could turn out the be a profitable marijuana field, if his state legalizes it.
According to E Online, government officials in Ohio will be meeting on Tuesday to decide if the state will officially legalize marijuana. If so, the state will regulate the growth of the plant and will only allow ten specific farms to grow the plant on a large-scale. Lachey just so happens to be part owner in one of those farms.
As reported by Washington Post, the ex-husband of Jessica Simpson may not have seen his best days yet. When Ohio goes to the polls on Tuesday Nov. 3, the vote to make the state green-friendly will be on the table, leaving Lachey as a new weed kingpin by Wednesday morning.
That's not even the best part. According to the site, the owners of the ten farms are the same people who are funding the campaign and will become very wealthy. The Washington Post reported that in addition to the former Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica reality star, other owners of the ten farms include, "designer Nanette Lepore, NBA legend Oscar Robertson, NFL journeyman Frostee Rucker, a pair of President William Howard Taft's great-great-grandnephews and twenty-some others."
Each group of farm owners reportedly contributed "$4 million to the legalization campaign" and if the bill is passed, it will cost a reported $10 million to get the farms ready to grow on such a large scale. But, ultimately it all comes down to the vote on Tuesday.
A study was conducted on the profit that the farms stand to gain if marijuana is legalized in Ohio, and the result is "estimated that those 10 farms would be selling $1.1 billion worth of pot every year," according to one study reported by Washington Post.
