Blake Shelton is fully prepared for Miranda Lambert talk at the 2015 CMA Awards this year. The biggest awards show in country music is scheduled to occur on Wednesday (Nov. 4), and everyone's favorite country The Voice judge is used to being put on the spot after a long stint on the critically acclaimed music discovery show.
Shelton talked to Seth Meyers on Late Night last week nd expressed that he fully expects plenty of divorce related jabs. "This year is going to be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes. Country music is such a family. Everyone there is friends, you know? There's gotta be a joke about me and Miranda Lambert," he said.
The country singer further said, "Co-Host Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn't look down there and go 'Haha!' I mean, he's gotta do it. You have to address the elephant in the room," in regards to his very public divorce from fellow country star Miranda Lambert.
According to Shelton the they've already had discussions outlining exactly what jokes will be made and that he knows "it's coming."
Shelton and Lambert announced their separation in July after spending a total of 10 years together. The couple dated for six years prior to getting engaged in 2011. Although they were able to keep the specific details of their divorce private, it was still widely known to the American public that the two had split. By keeping the official documentation sealed, the divorced caused quite the scandal legally as some lawmakers sternly objected.
Fans of the country power couple were shocked at just how fast the proceedings were finalized and within hours of their divorce announcement multiple outlets had confirmed it.
