As HotNewHipHop reports, Kendrick Lamar has joined the popular producer/rapper Travi$ Scott and famed hip-hop mogul P. Diddy in the studio for a collaboration track. This news comes after Diddy, who apparently wants to be called "Puff Daddy" again, dropped his MMM mixtape. While the mixtape is dynamic, cohesive, and album-like, it is only the predecessor to his upcoming effort, No Way Out 2. It seems as if Diddy is no longer comfortable as a primarily behind-the-scenes player. The album has remained a closely guarded secret in terms of details, but will likely feature Travi$ Scott and other heavy-hitters with whom Diddy has partnered in the past.
Scott posted news of the collaboration on his Instagram account, with only a cryptic "soon" to placate his many followers.
The video features K. Dot and Scott working side by side in the studio, for a mysterious project that has yet to be announced. Many suspect that this work will go toward No Way Out 2.
For many reasons, this project is highly anticipated. Lamar has cemented his reputation as the most insightful and important rapper in the game right now, and Travi$ Scott has earned legions upon legions of fans and festival-goers and his career spirals upwards. A collaboration between the three, with veteran Diddy adding his professional opinions, will likely be a big deal, and possibly a hip-hop classic.
Although Travi$ Scott was featured on a track on MMM, Kendrick's presence was sadly missed. Any contribution he provides to this upcoming effort will likely inject the project with consciousness, sociopolitical commentary, or simply a sick verse. Whatever the case, it is an understatement to say that Hip Hop fans are incredibly excited at the prospect of this collaboration, and eagerly await what comes next.
