According to a recent interview with self-titled, Kanye West is starting to nail down some of the producers for his seventh album and follow up to Yeezus. Newly signed to G.O.O.D. Music, Evian Christ, who was one of six producers on Yeezus' "I'm In It," has been asked back for the next album.
Christ tells self-titled that West recently sent him an email requesting a beat "that sounds a bit like Otis Redding, a bit like Mobb Deep."
What that will ultimately sound like is unclear.
"Kanye is the one dude who's like, 'This is not experimental enough. This is too poppy. Make something else,'" Christ explains. "The other guys are like, 'We don't get it.' Kanye is a dream to work with. No one else gives you that level of creative freedom. When he wants you to work to a blueprint, the blueprint is: 'Don't make a rap beat. Anything but a rap beat.'"
Since working with West, Christ has also been asked to work with Drake, Rick Ross, Tinashe, and Tyga. Check out his work in "I'm in it" below. Let us know what you think in the comments section!
