Get ready to go to the church of Weezer. On Monday (Nov. 16), the legendary alt-rockers dropped the video for their new single "Thank God for Girls," featuring frontman Rivers Cuomo as a money obsessed, corrupt preacher in a delightfully goofy grey wig.
The new clip begins where the lyric video leaves off, featuring that long-haired cannoli eating man and taking him to church. At the pulpit, of course, is none other than Cuomo, who plays a charismatic preacher with a golden "W" embroidered on his white robe. With a cannoli in hand, Cuomo heals his congregation, holds babies and flirts a bit with the women in attendance, all while collecting dollars upon dollars for his religion.
But, behind the curtains, it's clear that Cuomo isn't necessarily in the healing game just for redemption. Instead, he takes away all the hard-earned money from the people and gambles it away in card games, while busty and half-naked girls cater to the men at the table.
Cuomo eventually spins deeper and deeper into his gambling habit sand becomes more desperate for that sweet, sweet collection money, and he just eventually starts nabbing the money for himself so he can keep connecting with those girls backstage.
"Thank God for Girls" is a new single from Weezer, who also recently released the crunchy rock song "Do You Wanna Get High." The two new tracks are not connected to a new album, according to Cuomo. Following the release of last year's Everything Will Be Alright in the End, Weezer is currently without a label.
