Meek Mill may be the hottest rapper coming out of Philly, but apparently it's not all brotherly love in the city.
TMZ reports that the MMG rapper is suing the City Of Philadelphia for a wrongful arrested that broke the bank.
Back in 2012, Meek was arrested and as a result, he was hit up for $22K for a cancelled private jet and $39K for missing an appearance in Atlanta.
The rapper also claims that bad press from the incident has had a negative impact on his business endeavors. He says he was forced to settle for a $650K deal with Puma, instead of the initial $2 million dollar offer following the arrest.
Vibe magazine reports that after his Dreams & Nightmares album release party, Meek was arrested in Philadelphia. In October 2012, Meek was held by Philadelphia PD for suspicion of marijuana possession.
Meek claims that when everything went down, his rights were violated. He filed a suit against the police department for "civil rights violations, false imprisonment, invasion of privacy and civil conspiracy."
The complaint states: "Following the vehicle stop, police officers Boyer and Vargas handcuffed plaintiff at the scene, transported him in custody to the 22nd Police District, took photographs of plaintiff which the officers posted and published, or caused to be posted and published, on Instagram and other social media websites, depicting plaintiff in police custody, held plaintiff in custody against his will in a jail cell for approximately nine (9) hours, after which time plaintiff was released on November 1, 2012, at 4:30 a.m., without being charged with any criminal activity and having caused plaintiff to miss a scheduled promotional appearance in Atlanta, Georgia."
Meek Mill is seeking monetary compensation following the incident.
