One Direction Get New Potato Band Member, Shut Down Hollywood Blvd. on 'Kimmel'

The boys of One Direction are so famous, they can even make a simple Russet potato a viral star. Last night, the "Drag Me Down" singers stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the release of their fifth studio album Made in the A.M. and as they chatted with the late night talk show host, they added a new band member: a big ol' spud.

Kimmel introduced the boys to the "One D potato." Once a simple vegetable purchased for 58 cents, the new potato soon got the big star treatment, with its own chair on Kimmel, a center stage spot for the boys' Hollywood Blvd. performance and over 500,000 likes on Instagram.

No disrespect to Zayn Malik, but the One D potato may be the best fifth boy band member of all time.

When One Direction weren't budding it up with a spud, the boys were busy performing for legions of fans on Hollywood Blvd., a street they shut down in order to perform a selection of tracks from Made in the A.M. Of course, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson kicked off their short set with a performance of "Perfect," but the boys eventually gave the live televised debut of Made in the A.M. standout track "Love You Goodbye."

One Direction's new album Made in the A.M. is out now. The record will be the band's last before it goes on an indefinite hiatus, beginning in spring 2016.
